Ashley's Adventures

Words and photos from my time in Oregon.

In no particular order.

My mom and I took a day trip to Newport on the most beautiful winter day ever!
However, the valley was not having a beautiful day, or week rather.

Best salt water taffy in Newport!

Mom in front of the boat filled with taffy.

It's their 100th year anniversary!

A little story: This car belongs to the cashier at Aunt Belinda's. My parents met her and her partner at a bar one day and she totally remembered them. She told us she makes salsa and she had "just dropped some off at Neil's in Siletz" and to go buy some if we had a chance. Here's her little logo on her car. :)
Eating at Mo's is a must!

We got there just before lunch time, it was lovely.

My chili. Mom got clam chowder, of course ;)

These guys ALWAYS hang out here in the bay.

On the docks in the bay looking toward the ocean and bridge.

Going over the bridge.

South Beach

It was in the 60's with basically no wind. Absolutely incredible. I'm so grateful we got to experience it!

We went to Siletz and bought some salsa (which was great btw)!

More stories: Mom wanted to show me "Moonshine Park" where my dad camped and fished as a kid, and then got us very, very lost on some logging roads. Pictured here is "Dorris Falls."

Right about here I was able to get cell service and saw that we indeed were about 20 miles from ANYTHING. We turned around. haha

It was beautiful, but it took us entirely too long to get home. :p
I was going to spend time with my friend Courtney when we got home, our time was cut significantly short. lol

We stopped by Hasty Freeze on the way home because it was VERY needed after our crazy adventure. HF is the only way you should do ice cream in Albany Oregon btw.

I got to see some friends
Sabrina on my parent's couch. She happened to be in town at the same time and needed a place to spend the night. It was so awesome getting to spend so much time with her. I just love this girl!!!

With Mary and Darrel for Darrel's birthday party.

Cupcakes I made with Raquel (these cupcakes were so good)!

I also spent time with a bunch of other friends that I only get to see about once a year. It was such a great opportunity to catch up, meet babies and SO's, and just be around the people I love!

Everyone (plus Z lol, the only people missing were my cousins Scott & Kayla and their families)

This is at the Heathman Lodge in Vancouver WA. The John Wayne on the right is a REAL Warhol. This whole place was littered with great art and architecture. My mom, Aunt TC and I ate dinner at the diner (Hudson's) and then checked out the lodge. I'm so glad my Aunt brought us, it was a great place!

Cats!

Z and I skying with Proton and Neutron

She is always this ridiculous

Pumpkin

Ok, so this wasn't taken on my trip, but I had to share it. :)

Patches and Pumpkin

Pix from the plane
San Antonio

Dallas

Leaving Portland, you can see that horrid fog I had to deal with in the valley

The Cascades

Salt Lake City (you can't see it here, but I could see the copper pit mine)

Amazing mountains, I really do love flying.

Great nothingness. My grandma told me when I visited her that her mom always wanted to be reincarnated as a bird so she could "fly over the plains" forever. Crazy! haha

The hills outside of San Antonio

That pretty much sums up my trip to Oregon. I had a great time, and I can't thank Z enough for not only making me go, but for holding down the fort while I was gone.
